These biscotti are delicious and pretty simple to make. The recipe comes from Field of Greens and before that from Chez Panisse Deserts..

    pound butter
    cup sugar
    2 eggs
    2 teaspoons Kirsch
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    2 cups plus 2 teaspoons flour
    1 teaspoons baking powder
    teaspoon salt
    cup almonds, toasted and chopped
    cup chopped semisweet chocolate

    (Optional cup Dutch processes cocoa)

    Preheat oven to 325
    Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
    Add eggs, one at a time
    Mix in Kirsch and vanilla
    Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl
    Beat flour mixture into butter, sugar
    Stir in almonds and chocolate
    Add cocoa if adding
    Divide dough into 3 logs (1 "in diameter
    Place on baking sheet and bakuntil set ( 25 minutes)
    Cool and slice diagonal
    Lower oven to 300
    Lay sliceson baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes
    Turn over slices and bake another 10 minutes
    Cool and store in airtight container
